Over the weekend I shot an engagement session. My daughter, she’s 8, was my assistant. She came along to help me with my gear and hold reflectors, if needed. This session was not just any engagement session, these two are family friends as well. To top it all off, it was my very first one! I admitted to them how nervous I had been, once it was all over! They made the shoot so fun and so easy! The client mentioned a few times really wanting to utilize natural light as best as possible to eliminate the need for much post editing. I could not have been happier with these pictures! The lighting was great, my subjects were amazing and we had a lot of fun!

Here is a sneak peek at some of my favorites! I had a hard time choosing but I think these take the cake!

This picture turned out so great! The sun was really lighting her hair nicely and the way he is just gazing at her, it so sweet!!

This picture was the third one of the shoot! I warned them I was going to get in their faces! As I was stepping in to take the picture, I asked him to move in on her. When he started to lean in, my daughter (remember, she’s 8), started to giggle. Right before we all started giggling with her, I snapped this shot!

These two are really photogenic. They were easy to pose and were so comfortable and natural with each other! It was so much fun!

They are ranch people like us and we wanted to try some shots with a horse. They turned out so genuine.

Really, who wouldn’t love these two? We found some trees and really had that natural setting with perfect sun!

The last location was this one with this neat old schoolhouse. The schoolhouse was used as a movie set at one time. We went right down there (with permission) and really got some great late day sun shots!

As a photographer, my goal is capture as much natural beauty as possible. I am not a very technical photographer! These pictures had such minimal editing, it is not even worth mentioning much. I lightened things up a bit in some of the tree shots. The eyes got dark under the hat! We had perfect light and great weather. The timing was perfect and these two were so wonderful. A very polite and respectful couple! So perfect for my maiden session!
